PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF BASALT WEATHERING PRODUCTS AS CONTROLS ON ESTIMATING DEPOSIT PROFITABILITY
Abstract:
Polish industry restarts nowadays showing its concern in basalt weathering products from the Lower Silesia. It nearly carries us back to the 1970s and 1980s when the interest in this type of domestic raw materials was most prominent. The latest investment resulted in documentation of the "Dunino" deposit of the basalt waste, a little way south from the town of Legnica.
To assign rightly those features of raw material that will determine an employment for expected technologies, this is the main question of assessing minerals for chemical purposes. It is the chemical manufacturing which natural aluminosilicates from the "Dunino" are meant for. Halloysitic clays documented in the deposit are supposed to constitute a raw material for the roduction of sorbents, coagulants and bleaching earths. Capacity for the reaction with H2SO4, shares of three main chemical components: SiO2 - Al2O3 - Fe2O3 and hardness, these are admitted to be dominant properties influenced the usefulness of the documented clays. Diagrams added depict spatial variability of the mineral raw material parameters.
